Thiago Mondini is a young brazilian architect who works mainly with highly personalized interior design projects. Other branches of activity are architectural projects - specially residences - and corporate interiors. When creating unique interior design projects, Thiago tries to capture the personality of the clients in order to project this essence on the spaces. Thanks to this approach, there are no two projects that might look alike, even though there's always an underlying line of work that connects all of his creations. The symbolic function of architecture and the way it gives meaning to every aspect of the daily life is, in Thiago´s opinion, as important as the utilitarian functions of a design. Residential House
This project involved the renovation of a 1990s residence, originally presenting an emblematic high quality architecture of Brazilian design from that decade. Given the significance of the architecture, the intervention was limited to the interiors, aiming to preserve the 1990s character while updating the spaces to contemporary standards. The approach considered the original design intent, enhancing functionality and comfort without altering its architectural essence.

Residential Building Interiors
This project focuses on the shared spaces of a residential building and how they can enrich everyday life for its residents. Instead of repeating similar rooms, the design introduces highly differentiated areas throughout the building, each with its own character and atmosphere. The intention was to create a spatial experience similar to walking through a small city, where moving between spaces becomes a journey of discovery. Another key goal was to include environments that would rarely exist inside a typical home, expanding the range of activities and experiences available to residents.

This is an exhibition of furniture in a large scale store in Brazil. Different spaces were created to enhance the feel of each product, whether colorful or minimal. The special products are displayed in the burgundy part of the store, while the neutral, easier to use products, are displayed in the white part of the store. There's also a third space, in darker colors, where deeper toned furniture and products are exhibited.

An apartment for a young couple, featuring natural wood veneer, Brazilian modernist furniture, contemporary design. Despite its size, the living area is narrow and long. Fitting the furniture in the correct proportion to enhance the perception of the space was a great challenge. The sofa was custom made and has uncommon proportions, while still keeping all the comfort for the user. The wooden panels on the walls and ceiling create a continuous line that highlights the space and organizes the visuals.

The space was designed as a temporary exhibition inside a store, aiming to present office furniture in a more gallery like and less commercial way. Instead of a formal retail display, the layout allows each piece to be experienced with more attention and clarity. The dark gray interior of the store acts as a contrasting backdrop for a rich selection of almost monochromatic fabrics and finishes. These tones were carefully chosen to highlight the design and details of each piece while keeping the overall composition calm and visually balanced.

Sculptural Sink
Equilibrio is a sculptural sink that explores the contrast between the countertop's delicate inclination and its robust volume. Made by the assembly and modeling of several stone pieces in order to achieve a rounded format, the actual sink is created by a diagonal section and a slight tilt of the upper portion of the piece. The suggested supports are asymmetrical, with a hollow tube covering the plumbing on one side and a skinny leg on the other, but this piece could also be used without the supports.

Residential Apartment
In this renovation of an apartment built in the 1990s, all the internal walls of the social spaces were removed for maximum integration. The client possessed a large collection of relics and antiques. To overvome the challenge of bringing these elements together into a cohesive composition, every element was carefully chosen to create a mid-century feel. The primary component of this project, aside from the extremely varied furniture displayed against white walls, was the widespread use of Brazilian natural ornamental rocks.

This integrated area encompasses a spacious living room, a dining room and an elegant kitchen ingeniosuly conceived for maximum storage. The loose furniture which conform both the living and the dining areas add a very relaxed look to this project, while slatted panels which disguise all the cabinets used for storage build a clean contemporary background. Spared from excessive hardware while still maintaining all products, objects and memorabilia at hand, this kitchen feels more like a stylish bar around which friends and family can enjoy life's best moments.
